Double Happiness

Steve and Becky and Alexandra visit

This is Becky and Steve and their daughter, Alexandra. They traveled with us to China last September and came by for a visit today. It was fun to see how much Alexandra has changed in the last six months. She's almost walking and has so much more hair than when we saw her last! She also knows lots of baby (sign language) signs! I think we're inspired to try a bit harder to teach Gwen to communicate that way too!

Once some minor territorial issues were resolved, the girls got along really well! Right off the bat, Alexandra was much more social than Gwen but Gwen pretty quickly warmed up to her. Before long, they were sharing toys and sippy cups (and, presumably, baby germs!). I hope we'll be able to visit again soon!

Kat & Colin's baby shower

This is Kat and Colin from USAA Group 110. Kat may not look it, but she's four months overdue! That's right, it was originally thought that they'd have their Sophia's referral sometime last year. Needless to say, the delays are brutal!

Today was their baby shower and even though there was no picture of sweet little Sophia, I know she's out there somewhere waiting for some bureaucracy to match her file with the file of her new mom and dad. When that happens, the lives of many people will finally converge. It'll happen soon. A few weeks at the most.

Gwen ran around their house and did what she does best: Act cute. She's a walking advertisment for China adoption since she's charming beyond words. I can't claim any credit for for it either. Darn!

Today, Gwen learned how to rip paper off of packages. She never quite figured this out over Christmas but she's got it mastered now! She "helped" Kat open all of her baby shower gifts and here she is posing with the presents she just assumed would all be for her!

I hope time flies and the next batch of referrals are announced soon! I have so many friends who were so close last month and are more than ready for the stork to arrive and bring their extended labor to a happy end!

Pigtails!

We've been home from China for exactly six months so Gwenny decided to let Mommy celebrate by giving her some crazy pigtails! Fun! Of course, she ripped them out about 3 minutes later. J

New House!

UPDATE: We got the house! But we can't move in until at least mid June and, possibly not until mid July. Here's what I posted a few days ago: I know it's still a bit early to announce this but I'm excited so I have to share!!

We've been looking at houses lately. First, it was just for fun but then we started thinking about Andrew's horrible commute and serious thoughts of moving started creeping into our mind.

We've been looking close to Andrew's work but there's not much there. So we spread out and found this pretty little house! We're going to look at it again with our realtor tomorrow and we'll probably make an offer!

I'm trying hard not to get my hopes up too much since our offer might not be accepted. If this goes through, we'll be in our dream house and, as if that's not good enough, we'll also be super close to one particular very special adoption buddy!
