Happy Hollow Park and Zoo
After a two year remodel, one of our favorite parks reopened this weekend and we were super excited to be there!
At the entrance to the park, there were many bronze statues scattered everywhere. They were very interesting! The first thing I noticed was the momma pig. She and her babies had very distinct ... ahem, how shall I put this.... but-tholes? Normally the artist does his or her best to downplay that part of their work-o-art but this artist seemed to celebrate anatomic perfection.
Next, there was the "Cash Cow". Except this one isn't nearly as cost effective as the one at the center of the popular metaphor because it eats paper money and "gives" only change. I think anyone with a teenager knows something about this. I'm sure you'll notice that Gwen has her trademark stick in all of these pictures.
There were LOTS of fun things to do once we got inside the park. It's been completely overhauled and I'm sure it's going to be on our short list of places to go to wear out our kids.
After Happy Hollow, we hurried over to a friend's birthday party and the girls climbed and bounced their behinds off before falling asleep in the van on the way home.
Sunday, we spent half of the day riding bikes around Vasona Lake before heading to Kids Park for three hours. During those three hours, Mommy and Daddy grabbed a nice quiet lunch and walked all over one of our local (huge) malls. When it was time to leave, it occurred to us that we had absolutely no idea where we parked the van so we added another one or two miles to our already insane mile count for the day. But it all worked out great because we found the van before dark and all that exercise and sunshine helped us sleep perfectly! Phew! :)
