Bad Photos

This week's photo challenge is "bad photos".  You know -- the ones where someone looks horrible but someone else looks really good so you can't bear to send the photo to the recycle bin?   Sure, you can always crop out the bad part but what fun is that!?  :)

This picture was taken near the elevators of the China Hotel in Guangzhou just a week or so after Maddy's adoption.  I love the photo because it's the only picture we have of the girls wearing my favorite matching dresses.  We bought the dresses in the gift shop of The Majestic Hotel in Nanning (dirt cheap) and there's no way they'll fit them again this summer.  Daddy doesn't usually look like this.  No, he wasn't drinking.  :)

This is one of the best photos of Maddy but poor Gwen!  Anyone who thinks Gwen always takes a good picture needs to take a good look at that face! As always, click any photo to see a larger view.

Some bad photos can be fixed.

We used a tripod to take a dozen or so pictures of our family recently.  None of them came out with everyone looking acceptable so I found one picture that had the fewest flaws and 'fixed' it.

In this case, Maddy was the culprit.  In the first photo, she wasn't looking at the camera but she had a better pose in another photo and, overall, the two photos were similar enough that I could easily cut her out and paste her into the 2nd photo.  Please don't ask me how I did this.  It's not hard to do (after you've done it a time or two) but it's nearly impossible to explain without the benefit of actually having the photo editing program right here in front of us.

After Maddy was spliced into the bottom photo, I touched up the rest of the people in the photo.  I whitened our teeth and removed a few blemishes, wrinkles, etc.   Too bad those changes don't affect us in real life, huh!
